Prof. Malcolm Sim is organist of Glasgow Cathedral. He grew up in Berwick upon Tweed. He regularly performs in Berwick. Tonight program includes my Coronation Sanctus (2023). This is a fugal work which forms part of my Requiem. This is the first time the piece has been played.
The Church will show a broadcast of the Coronation. At a suitable time my Coronation Sanctus will be played via the church's speaker system.
This was a band I played with. They performed 'Agon,' which was basically 'Under the Poplars' from my Symphonic Suite of 1983. This movement formed the third movement of my 'Hellenic Symphony' composed around 2018-2021. I had been with the band less than a year and was 'allowed' to conduct the piece. Over the following five years there was a blockade on performing any of my music. Even having left the band a 'blockade' continues. My compositions seem to ellicit silence, minimal commentary or in some cases simple dislike from local bands, musicians and conductors. The silence that follows my work is so apparent that I have come to the conclusion that I actually have a talent.
